~ Ipi Tombe ~
1998 bay mare (Manshood x Carnet
De Danse, by Dance In Time)
Great racehorses are rare, and great racing fillies can be
rarer still. Precious few of them can consistantly dominate
their own sex, let alone compete on the highest levels against
males. Those that have are an elite company, like Busher,
Twilight Tear, or Miesque. Ipi Tombe more than earned her
place among them, winning 12 of 14 starts against all comers,
from sprints to routes, and often as the high-weight in a
field of males. She won races in 4 different countries on
3 seperate continents and was named a champion in 2 of them.
But the story of Ipi Tombe is unique for more than just her
accomplishments, brilliant though they are. Her's is one of
racing's greatest rags-to-riches tales, beginning humbly in
strife-torn Zimbabwe.

~ News ~
In a February 2008 poll on www.sahorseracing.com,
Ipi Tombe was voted (in a landslide) the greatest racehorse
since Horse Chestnut to grace South Africa's tracks.
As of March 2008, Monastic Springs is back in training! Ipi's Pivotal
filly has been named Pin Turn. And still no word yet on Ipi's
foal by Giant's Causeway. She ought to be due any day now.
